Description: |
|
This beautiful house was built in 1921 and its walls are all
red, in striking contrast with the greenness of the park
surrounding it. Originally it was used as the recording workshop
of Bai Dai Gramophone Record Company, and after 1924 it became
the birthplace of China Gramophone Record Factory. It has been
affectionately named the “Little Red Mansion”. Today, although
the other architectures have been bulldozed, the little building
has been preserved, and its interior, including the
ancient-style decoration, remains the same as before. An
out-of-date gramophone is displayed in front of the mansion, and
a number of photos of famous film stars in Old Shanghai are hung
on the walls. Large numbers of excellent stars and musicians in
the fields of film and music came out from there famous and
successful, such as Zhao Dan, Zhou Xuan, Xi Xing-hai, and Nie
Er. In the eyes of many Shanghai people, this old mansion is
filled with rich history about China’s culture, beautiful and
sad stories, attractive scenery, and good taste. |
