 Adjacent to Shanghai, Zhejiang is located in the southern flank of the Yangtze River Delta along the southeast coast of China, with Hangzhou as its capital city. Encompassing 6,400-plus kilometers of coastlines and over 3,000 islands, it has formed a large port group mainly consisting of Ningbo, Wenzhou, Zhoushan, Zhapu and Haimen ports. Ningbo’s Beilun Port has the 3rd and 4th generation international container terminals in capacity from 25,000 to 200,000 tons.


Its annual handling capacity ranks 2nd in China. It has established 98 sister ties with various provinces, states, cities and counties in 32 countries, including Japan, the USA, Germany, Australia, the UK, France, Italy and the Republic of Korea. It has also established business relations with more than 190 countries and regions all over the world. “In heaven there is paradise; on earth there are Suzhou and Hangzhou” is a proverb known to every Chinese. Hangzhou’s fabled West Lake is probably China’s best-known beauty spot.

Peak Flown from Afar, also known as Fei Lai Feng Chinese in Hangzhou, is famous for its beautiful scenery and stone carvings that are comparable with Dazu Stone Carving in Sichuan area. The name of this peak comes from a legend. It is that an Indian monk named Huili arrived in the valley 1,600 years ago and was surprised to see a peak so dissimilar from any other in the valley. He thought that the peak was flown over from India because the shape, although unique in China, was common in India.

Longjing Tea or dragon well tea (龙井茶), a type of green tea of over 1200 years old growing in the surrounding area of the world famous West Lake in Hangzhou, is the “No. 1 among the Top 10 Famous Tea in China”. With verdant color on the leaves, strong fragrance, sweet flavor and elegant form, Longjign tea is given the reputable name of the “Green Queen” and the “Golden Card” of Hangzhou city.

West Lake is a freshwater lake in Hangzhou, China. It is divided into five sections by three causeways. There are numerous temples, pagodas, gardens, and artificial islands within the lake.

The Baidi Causeway divides the lake into the outer land and inner lake.

Baochu Pagoda is located just north of the lake on top of Precious Stone Hill. Its small base supports seven stories (45 meters) and gives it a distinctively slender and elegant appearance. The name Baochu, translated directly, means "protect Chu", who, legend has it, refers to Qian Chu, the last king of Wuyue.

Viewing Fish at Flower Harbor, or Fish Viewing at the Flower Pond, is one of the 10 scenes of West Lake. The history of Viewing Fish at Flower Harbor can be dated Southern Song Dynasty when a private garden called Lu Garden was built by the government official Lu Yusheng and since then this beautiful scene was known as Viewing Fish at Flower Harbor
       
  Jingci temple       勅建净慈禅寺 GPS: 30.22931, 120.14867
Jingci Temple is one of the Four Ancient Temples of West Lake and the second important Buddhist temple in Hangzhou. Jingci Temple was firstly built in 954 AD by Qian Hongji of Wuyue Dynasty for a famous monk Yongming Yanshou. Jingci Temple was originally called Huiri Yongming Temple and was renamed Jingci Temple during South Song Dynasty. The temple was destroyed and have undergone several reconstructions. Most part of the current temple was built in 1980’s.

Leifeng Pagoda is a five story tall tower with eight sides, located on Sunset Hill south of the West Lake in Hangzhou. Originally constructed in the year AD 975, it collapsed in 1924 but was rebuilt in 2002.

The small island appears to float upon clear, green waves and is hidden away among flowers and clusters of trees, just like crystal emeralds on a jasper plate. The name “Ruan Gong Islet Submerged in Greenery” comes from that.

Solitary Hill (Gu Shan) is the largest and only natural island in West Lake, covering an area of almost 50 acres (20 hectares) and rising to a height of 125 feet (38 meters). Beautifully landscaped and full of scenic and historical spots.

Su Causeway is a 2800-meter scenic walk or bike belt crossing the lake from the south to the north on the west side of West Lake. There are six stone moon bridges numbered from the Bridge No.01 in the south ( Leifeng Pagoda side ) to the Bridge No.06 in the north ( near Tomb of General Yue Fei or Shangri-la Hotel).

The Yue Fei Temple or commonly known in Chinese as Yuewang Temple is a temple built in honour of Yue Fei, a general of the Southern Song dynasty who fought against the Jurchen Jin dynasty during the Jin–Song Wars, after the capital of China moved south to Hangzhou.
       
  Three Pools Mirroring the Moon

Santan Yinyue Islet, or Three Pools Mirroring the Moon Islet, is the biggest island in West Lake. There are temples, pavilions, halls, a curved bridge and other architectures on the islet. In the southern water, three pagodas rise just two meters above the surface of the water. Each pagoda has five round holes, and when lit from within, it appears like there are a dozen moons mirrored in the lake.

Measuring 3.2 kilometers (2 miles) in length, 2.8 kilometers (1.7 miles) in width, and 2.3 meters (7.5 feet) in average depth, the lake spreads itself in an area totaling 6.5 square kilometers (2.5 square miles).
